Instructional Materials

These instructional materials were created by Paul Hippolitus, Director, Disabled Students Program, University of California, Berkeley as part of his course, “Professional Development and Disability.”

Each resource package listed below contains content from the UC Berkeley course. These three packages offer you flexibility for various situations, including time availability.

 

The Book

This 243-page self help book titled “Make It Work – Disability & Competitive Employment,” is your comprehensive guide to the “employment empowerment” instructional content that was developed by Paul Hippolitus for this project. It’s appropriate for all interested youth and adults with disabilities, as well as those supporting their employment quest. It’s available free of charge online, with print copies available for purchase at Amazon.

 

Workshops

A six-part (3-4 hours each) series appropriate for both secondary and post-secondary youth with disabilities that can be used as individual workshop sessions or as a comprehensive series. This package contains most of the instructional content outlined in the book above.

Curriculum

These instructional resources are designed to help teachers present the full “employment empowerment” course of instruction. Teachers can use these 17 individual videos & lesson plans, along with the course book, to prepare for each lesson. These online free materials are not designed for use by students.
